Elementi di organizzazione aziendale

Giuseppe Giulio Calabrese
The aim of this publication is to offer students an opportunity to go further than the first and basic concepts taught in non-specialist courses in organizations. This publication updates and integrates the handout Introduction to firm organization and the management of human resources for the university courses of Business Administration and Budget Items at the Polytechnic of Turin. The updates specifically cover Chapters 5, 6 and 7 respectively relating to the management and the organisation of firms, the main business activities and the organisational structures. The integrations come above all from the lessons of the course of Managerial Economics for the university course of Management of the Information and the Business Communication at the University of Turin and the analysis on the organizational models for the product development process, Chapters 8 and 9, relating in particular to the automotive sector. The final revised version required the inclusion of some chapters that contextualized the organizational models in a vision extended to the purposes of the companies, chapter 2, the scenarios of change and resistance, chapter 3, and relations with the environment, chapter 4. KEYWORDS: organizzazione aziendale, funzioni, processi, sviluppo prodotto, firm organization, functions, processes, product development.

L’impresa: che cos’è? Visione economica, giuridica e organizzativa. Vol 1. Strumenti decisionali per l’impresa

Elena Ragazzi
Strumenti decisionali per l'impresa. Volume 1This volume is the first part of the text “Decision-making tools for the firm. Handbook for engineers and technicians who must make economic decisions”. It offers guidance to students and professionals who find themselves having to make decisions that affect the economic dimension of the firm. We start from the description of the firm, which has its own characteristics and interacts with other economic agents within a specific law framework. The second step analyses the accounting system as a source of information that can be used to make decisions. Finally, third part presents the criteria to be adopted to correctly take some of the main short and long-term decisions that characterize the management of a business. Many different skills contribute to the functioning of the company and its management; in the same way different disciplinary perspectives are functional analysis and are essential for a complete definition. So, this part, dedicated to the identification of the concept of firm, begins with the economic definition of the company, aimed at framing its role within the general economic context. In this sense, the concept of profit is introduced, as an indicator of the ability to generate value, through the achievement of business objectives and appreciation by the market. In the following chapters, this ideal type will be integrated and concretized through the legal definition of firm and through the description of the organizational forms it assumes.

Una breve introduzione alle tecniche di Data Mining

Greta Falavigna
The aim of this publication is to expose students to use basic tools for the analysis of big amount of data. The first section starts presenting the definition of Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery in Database explaining the more common techniques and listing the main operational applications. A second paragraph illustrates the first three phases preceding the application of Data Mining techniques: Selection/Sampling, Pre-processing/Cleaning and Transformation/Reduction of data. These prelaminar data analysis techniques are essential as the results of the Data Mining models depend on the correctness of the data. The third paragraph presents some applications of methodologies. In this section, the technical aspect has less relevance than the operational one with the aim to explain the use of these techniques. However, the more common Data Mining models are listed and explained. The fourth paragraph is addressed to the Text Mining and Web Mining, which are two methodologies used to analyze texts and websites. This section presents the main problems related to textual analysis and the techniques that can be used to obtain effective searches. Finally, two appendices have been added: the Statistical Appendix reports some technical insights that may be useful for understanding the Data Mining systems; in a second appendix, a Short Glossary containing the main terms related to Data Mining used in the text is proposed.
